Jean + Chris - A Family Estate Wedding

Ian Shiver

I've had a really cool year, y'all. It's starting to feel like every wedding I shoot is one of my favorites I've ever shot, and work is feeling less like work and more of a damn good life. Jean and Chris were no exception to this. They were married at a now country club mansion that used to be the home of Jean's Grandmother, the walls of which were covered in beautiful paintings donated by their family when they sold the home. The grounds were full of every type of tree imaginable, and the light was perfect. Everybody won that day. Bop a play on this Drake cover and have a scroll.

Sarah+Zach - Philly In Black And White

Ian Shiver

Sometimes I think about how distracting color is. I mean... I look at A LOT of wedding photos. And I find myself mostly paying attention to how good the colors look, judging them from a technical standpoint or even just only appreciating them for their color. But isn't that kindof missing the point of what I do? What I always strive for is to capture a feeling, a connection so strong that it pulls you in. I want you, the reader of the photograph, to feel what I was feeling, which is hopefully an extension of what my couples are feeling. Sarah and Zach have so much connection between them that it felt like a disservice to edit these photos in any other way but to accent the feelings I felt and the afternoon that I got to spend with them. Some of it is laughter and love, and some of it is simply nervousness! But whatever it is, I hope you feel it too.

And while you're at it, hit play and feel these Poolside FM jams with me. Pool season may be over, but I'mma keep living like its not <3
