Katie + Ryan - Philadelphia Racquet Club
Ian Shiver
In a rare happenstance, I'd never met Katie+Ryan before the day of their wedding. I try to meet all my couples, or at least skype, because well, its just objectively cooler that way. Who wants to spend the entire day with a complete stranger? The hardest part about being a really good wedding photographer is connecting with people you've just met, and having them feel comfortable enough with you to relax, and trust you enough to let you try some crazy ideas - and I want that to be genuine. Getting to connect with people is one of the reasons I love what I do. But sometimes you just get lucky. Katie and Ryan, and all of their many many friends, welcomed us in to their lives immediately - and treated us like royalty. It probably helped to lighten the mood when I stepped on one of those sticky no-show bras and was walking around the room with it stuck to my shoe... yeah yeah, laugh it up. Anyway the Racquet Club is a bizarre place, just the type of weird old Philadelphia secret handshake type of place I love. Oh and we only had 15 minutes to take all of the photos of Katie and Ryan - if you saw me literally running around Rittenhouse that day... that was why =
