Anne + Brian - For The Love Of Sunlight

Ian Shiver

Sometimes you just get a hilarious couple, an awesome venue, and the perfect city light. Sometimes that couple is willing to follow you in to parking garages and back alleys and stare into direct sunlight for way too long just to get the photo. Sorry about your corneas, guys, but I'm pretty sure it was worth it. Its February now and its snowing outside, and I've been in pajamas editing photos and watching rap videos all day - but these photos are bringing me back to a warm late October, the day before my birthday, and feeling really good about this coming wedding season. Shout out to Philly for being my favorite city, and my home. Make sure you bop a play on the track (it gets really good at 2:00) and scroll real slow =)

Amy + Evan - The (Sign) Language Of Love

Ian Shiver

Amy and Evan are two very kind-hearted people with a beautiful cat. They both happen to be deaf, so this shoot marked my first time ever photographing a deaf couple. I talk a lot about how my photo process is about the couple's intimacy, rather than being about posed stiff portraits. For this shoot, since there was a bit of an interaction barrier, I really put that to the test. Lucky for me, these two had such a wildly strong connection, at certain points it was as if I wasn't even there at all. It felt like every photograph I took was incredibly honest, and thats always my goal.
